Athlete Assessment

Measuring Your Physical Readiness

Evan decelerating

Strength, Power, Speed, Agility, Quickness

Improving the way you move will minimize injury and improve the way you perform.  You’ll be able to better express strength, power, speed, agility, and quickness.

That’s where we start — movement.

We test your movement and ability to control it — this gives us a baseline. The goal of training is to positively affect performance without negatively affecting the baseline.

Your Position Determines Your Ability, Function, And Performance.

Beth and Greg

When you look at sport performance or general fitness, it’s important to understand the need for basic fundamental movement. We’re not talking about mastery, if we waited for perfection nothing would get done, we’re looking for competence — good enough to do the next thing.

1) Movement

We start with the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and the Y Balance Test (YBT) which will:

  • screen for risk,
  • discover your hidden weakness in multiple planes of movement, and
  • identify your limitations and imbalances.

2) Performance

Our performance tests will show:

  • your body awareness and control,
  • how you accelerate / decelerate, and
  • how you plant / cut and change directions.

We first look at how you move, then how fast you move. Training for speed, strength and agility without movement competence is inefficient, and often leads to injury.

3) Coaching

This is more than a “one-off-assessment” and see ya next year thing. You will have a little “at-home-work” to do – not much, just enough to help new movement patterns stick.

If you have questions, call or email — we’re here for you. In fact, communication (the feedback loop) is where the magic happens. We make adjustments based on how you’re responding and feel, not a written-in-advance program. You’ll have me coaching you for two additional weeks via phone, email, and video.

You may chose to continue with coaching which keeps you on the right path regardless of what you’re into. This coaching is available for both local and distance clients.
